There are a few reasons why the valve might get stuck open. Those reasons include removing the batteries when watering is happening, debris being stuck inside the valve and causing it to remain open, and back pressure not being released from some small drip systems. To help address a Hose Faucet Timer that won’t shut off, I’d like you to try manually watering your timer from either the device itself or from our B-hyve app.
If manually running the timer did not help, you’ll want to try replacing the batteries – these should be replaced at least once a year.
After replacing the batteries, you will want to make sure the mesh filter is still installed in your timer. All of our Hose Timers come with a mesh filter included in the inlet. This is used to prevent any bigger pieces of debris from getting inside the valve/body and causing issues with the opening/closing of the valves.
In addition to the above steps, if you have a drip system connected to the Hose Timer, remove a dripper, run the Hose Timer manually for a few seconds and stop it, and then try using it normally. The removed dripper will allow more water to flow through the line, and it can relieve some of the back pressure on the Hose Timer’s valve. If that works, you’ll need to add more emitters to the line in order for it to work with the device.
